OBITUARY Checks In From The Road
July 26, 2008Legendary Florida-based death metallers OBITUARY have issued the following update:
"We flew from Tampa to New York to Frankfurt to Copenhagen and then to Vilnius, Lithuania to make it to the first show of this third and final leg of our European summer festival tour. We lost our luggage, equipment and Frank [Watkins, bass] on the way, but everything and everyone eventually made it. This was our first time being in Lithuania and we thank all of you that came out to the show!
"Today we are in Holland for the Zwarte Cross Festival and this should be awesome. Along with the music there is motocross and all kinds of other extreme sports going on. This is our first time playing this festival, and we have the next few days off, so we will get a chance to hang out today and party a little bit after the show.
"We will spend our next few days off in Holland before making our way to Finland for the next show. It has been a while since we were in Helsinki, so I hope you all come out to see us.
"We also have copies of the new 'Left to Die' EP with us, so I hope you grab one of those while they last!!!!!"
Metalhead TV conducted an interview with OBITUARY/ex-DEICIDE guitarist Ralph Santolla at this year's Hellfest, which was held June 20-22, 2008 in Clisson, France. Watch the seven-minute chat below.
OBITUARY will release a new EP, titled "Left To Die", on September 16 via Candlelight Records. The CD will contain four songs: two new originals, a new 2008 studio recording of "Slowly We Rot", and a cover of "Dethroned Emperior" by CELTIC FROST. The EP will also include the band's popular "Evil Ways" video.
OBITUARY's latest album, "Xecutioner's Return", was released last summer via Candlelight Records. The CD was mixed at RedRoom Recorders and was mastered in June at Morrisound Studios in Tampa. The band once again worked with artist Andreas Marschall, who has previously created the art for "The End Complete" and the group's last record, "Frozen in Time".
